Popponesset Inn | Liane + Garret’s Cape Cod Wedding

It has been a little bit since I have had time to post, but tonight I am so excited to finally share Liane & Garret’s amazing and beautiful Popponesset Inn wedding!

It was a crazy stormy day, starting with sunshine, then the dark clouds rolled in after the ceremony….then it poured! We stopped off at the beautiful newly renovated New Seabury Country Club for some wedding party photos, then once the rain stopped we ran out to the beach at Popponesset! The sky was so pretty, bright blue, then dark blue….the water was still & reflecting….then the sky opened up & we all took shelter at the beach bar, watching the hail …. and then a beautiful rainbow appeared. The photos are some of my favorites I have ever taken! Such a beautiful couple and family! Later, instead of the pink sky sunset…..we got a lightening show & even more amazing storm clouds!

Here are just some of my favorites….so hard to choose! Be sure to scroll down to ear more about the day from Liane & see all of the talented professionals that helped to make this a perfect Cape Cod Wedding!

From the newlyweds, Liane & Garret:

Where & How did you meet?
We were introduced by a mutual friend at the Lure, the bar next door to the Popponesset Inn!
Where do you live?
We just bought our first home in Milton, MA
What inspired you to have a Cape Cod wedding?
Liane grew up summering in Popponesset, and has always loved the beach. Garret’s parents recently purchased a summer home in Falmouth, so Cape Cod was a natural choice for gathering all of our friends and family.
Why did you choose / What was your favorite thing about your reception Venue?

I have wanted to get married at the Popponesset Inn, or ‘the Poppy’ since I was young. My grandmother used to attend many weddings there, and whenever she got home she would share all the details of the wedding. She always said that the best wedding she ever went to and the worst were both at the Popponesset Inn- only one day apart. It poured on the Friday night wedding, making Saturday a stunning clear day. It was so special to finally get to plan my own there. Garret liked the Inn for the casual atmosphere, the view, and of course its affiliation with a good golf course 😉

But one of our favorite parts of the venue was working with Wilma Lopez. She was incredible. I needed someone to balance my stress with a calm and cool demeanor. Wilma listened to all of my crazy suggestions and concerns, and took them in stride. She was quick to respond when I needed something, and kept me sane throughout the process. Wilma was accommodating, organized, and fun, and made the whole thing go off flawlessly.

What are some of your favorite memories of your wedding day?
We will NEVER forget the crazy weather we had on our wedding day. We had it all! From sun in the morning to thunderstorms after the ceremony, to a hail storm while we were taking pictures on the beach. We also got a very special rainbow. Our pictures make it look like we had 4 different wedding days, one in each season! Like every bride, I was hoping for a sunny and clear day, but I wouldn’t trade the weather we had for anything.
What were some special touches / details for your wedding day? Please include your vendors for all of these details.

One of the most special touches for our wedding day was on my bouquet. I had a charm with my Dad’s picture on it so that he could be with me throughout the whole day, and attached it to the bouquet using my grandmother’s brooch.

Other details included a handmade pillow for our rings, made for us by my godmother Maureen. It was on display at the ceremony, and we now can use it as a pillow in our home to remember the day.

One of my favorite details at the reception was the way we displayed our escort cards. Wanting to do something unique and festive, we put the cards on top of champagne glasses that people could use for the toast.

What were your wedding colors for bridesmaids dresses and flowers. Any special wedding party gifts / favors?
Our colors were navy and hydrangea blue. The bridesmaids wore navy short dresses, and the men wore traditional black tuxedos with hydrangea color ties, which matched the sash for our flower girl.
The bridal party all wore monogrammed pajamas to get ready, and we got the groomsmen each a Patagonia pullover.
